Using a Free Tool to Engage Students in Modeling With Data from Algebra to Geometry to Statistics
Daniel Damelin, William Finzer
9:45 AM – 11:00 AM, Sheraton, Bayside A
Using a free, web-based tool called CODAP (Common Online Data Analysis Platform), teachers will explore how to utilize a data-centric math modeling approach for student exploration of algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts. Data exploration and modeling through simulation are made possible by CODAP’s interactive drag-and-drop interface, which allows students to remain focused on the concepts and not the mechanics of creating data representations.
