Principal Investigator

The Concord Consortium seeks an outstanding professional who is passionate about STEM educational research and the potential of educational technology to make a positive difference for students in schools and out of school settings. Candidates must be willing to contribute to several projects, including overseeing multi-year educational technology R&D projects, leading the development of proposals for new initiatives, and managing project staff. The successful candidate is expected to develop innovative new projects that contribute to our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Design and direct educational research and development projects
  • Develop federal and non-federal proposals for funding
  • Direct research about educational technology innovations
  • Generate scholarly publications and reviewed talks
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of relevant research literature in science, mathematics, and engineering learning
  • Manage work and staff of multi-year, federally funded projects
  • Develop internal capacity by growing staff research knowledge and supporting other projects
  • Travel and present at a range of conferences

Desired qualifications

  • Master’s degree required, Ph.D. or equivalent experience preferred
  • Equivalent of an undergraduate major in a science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or data science field
  • Successful experience writing, receiving, and managing federal grant funding
  • Experience designing and overseeing educational research
  • Experience with educational technology and its applications to K-14 teaching, learning, and assessment in STEM and related disciplines
  • Experience running a project, including experience collaborating with external partners
  • Experience managing and supporting teams composed of diverse internal and external roles including researchers, curriculum developers, software engineers, and outside contractors and collaborators
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Highly beneficial qualifications

  • K-12 classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working in /developing projects involving diverse populations / underrepresented learners
  • Experience contributing to research in educational technology through peer‐reviewed presentations and publications
  • Ability to travel and participate in classroom implementations

  • Have extensive experience using and creating with technology for teaching and learning, especially in collaborative settings
