Teaching Computational Thinking in the Science Classroom Using Simulations
Nanette Dietrich (Millersville University of Pennsylvania), Meridith Bruozas (Argonne National Labs), Benjamin Dietrich, Carolyn Staudt
2:30 – 3:30 PM, W179a, Table 4
Funded by the National Science Foundation, this technology-rich curriculum supports middle school students’ development of key computational thinking skills. Using a phenomenon-based approach, students use weather sensors, data and simulations to engage in decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction and algorithm design to discern the underlying science of weather.
