Requirements

A chemical reaction can occur in three different ways: (1) A chemical bond is formed. (2) A chemical bond is broken. (3) One or more electrons are transferred between atoms or molecules. Explore reactions in which chemical bonds are formed and broken. Experiment with heating and cooling the atoms to see how temperature affects the balance between bond formation and breaking.
