Requirements

This model allows you to see the patterns of earthquakes on Earth, including magnitude, depth, location, and frequency. Earth’s surface is made up of several tectonic plates. These plates are continually moving. Sometimes, these plate movements cause earthquakes.

Although most earthquakes occur along plate boundaries, some earthquakes occur within a single tectonic plate. Use the cross-section tool to compare the patterns of earthquakes at convergent and divergent plate boundaries.
