Explore slopes of lines and see how slope is represented on the x-y axes. Graph a line with a given slope, use rise over run on the graph grid and determine slope when given the graph of a line. ## Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (2010):

CCSS.Math.Content.HSA-CED.A.2 Create equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.

CCSS.Math.Content.8.F.A.3 Interpret the equation y = mx + b as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function A = s2 length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
