Associate Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master

Are you an experienced project manager who likes being in an environment where new creative projects in education are always part of the conversation? The Concord Consortium, a nonprofit research and development organization dedicated to transforming STEM education through technology located in Concord, MA, and Emeryville, CA, has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master to drive research-based K-12 educational technology projects through implementation. You will have the opportunity to work with internal and external collaborators as you own projects through their technology rollout to internal and external stakeholders. This position will be semi-remote, as you will be required to be in the Concord office for training and monthly meetings.

We’re looking for a self-starter who can work with a team of experienced software engineers and product owners to deliver top-notch software predictably and on time. We are research-centric, so there is a lot of opportunity to learn about and try out programs, implement continuous process updates, and contribute meaningfully to the final product vision.

In this position you will:

  • Be responsible for project technology planning through technology development phase, understanding the feature set of the software, and ushering the project through Agile technology development – including managing schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating with project stakeholders
  • Develop project technical plans and coordinate between stakeholders and software development team during technology design and development phases – including wireframe design, user story definition, user testing, and maintenance of the product backlog
  • Ensure a common understanding and agreement on project scope and goals and on any subsequent changes
  • Attend regular meetings with the Scrum Teams, project teams, and stakeholders to discuss status, resolve conflicts, and share reports on measurable items such as milestones and deliverables
  • Drive consensus on technical decisions to satisfy project technology requirements to ensure delivery within project timelines
  • Remove roadblocks and negotiate compromise on schedule and feature scope
  • Track and orchestrate software releases to match project deadlines

To accomplish this, you will need:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a project management or Agile product owner/scrum master role
  • Ability to manage complex business problems in terms of people, processes, and technology to enable teams to deliver innovative software and technology for multiple projects
  • Ability to exercise technical judgment to meet project technology goals within a given timeline
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • To be passionate about quality and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or another related field. Education professionals with suitable Agile Software Project experience will also be considered.

You will be even more successful if you have experience with or interest in:

  • Experience with Slack, Google Suite, and/or GitHub
  • Knowledge of Pivotal Tracker or other technical project management software
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum or other Agile Methodologies (Kanban, LEAN, SAFe)
  • Certified Project Manager, Scrum Master, or Product Owner, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in user interface and/or user experience design for educational technology or similar
  • Experience with release management systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) or web monitoring systems
  • Experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
