In this simulation you will investigate the effect of environmental factors on the growth and survival of plants. To plan and carry out an investigation, consider the following:
- Independent variable: amount of sunlight
- Dependent variable: growth of plant
- Controlled variables: type of plant (genetic makeup), number of seeds, availability of water, time
- Inquiry question: What is the effect of the amount of sunlight on plants' growth?
To carry out your experiment:
- Select the plant with purple, lilac or pink flowers.
- Plant four plants in each row with a different amount of sunlight.
- Click the Play button.
- Observe and record the plants' height.
