Science Standards

Carolyn Staudt and Dan Damelin

9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This workshop will introduce participants to NSF-funded projects that will help teachers engage their students with curricula and assessments that support the type of science teaching embodied in the Next Generation Science Standards. The Innovative Technology in Science Inquiry (ITSI) project engages grades 3-12 students in exciting, inquiry-based science activities that use computational models and real-time data acquisition that teachers can customize easily to fit their classrooms. Participants will also explore a foundational high school interdisciplinary science course being developed by the Interactions project and learn about an assessment project, which is studying how to develop formative assessments for NGSS performance expectations.
